Today is the last day of 2017, so it’s time to do a recap on this year.
2017 was a good year for my family, and a bad year at the same time.
The beginning of the year we finally settled into this house we moved into the end of 2016. I made some new friends, started hanging out with my cousin, who moved to Fayetteville last year. It’s nice to have family nearby.
I also started my first interviews with authors. The first was the wonderful Lindsey Pouge! I came across her Ending series by accident and fell in love. So when I had the chance to ARC read for her, of course I asked to interview her. Yes said yes.
The summer was kind of a blur. between ARC reads galore and work, I was one busy chicka. Then August came and my heart broke.
My family had to say goodbye to the strongest man in our family. My Papaw, Jack Smith, had passed gone to heaven to see our Lord on the last day of July. Papaw had seen hell here on earth and still stood strong for the family. He spoke wisdom and while he didn’t show it all the time, he loved everyone dearly. He was a major part in my growing up, not jut me, but all of my cousins. He was always there to guide us along side our parents.
At his funeral we all sang “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” Which is my Papaw’s favorite song.
Remember how said that I had ARC reads galore?
These are just SOME of the ARCs that I had read this year. 2017 was the most in ARCs I ever read and I am so glad I got the chance to read for all these awesome authors.
In September, my little family grew one fur-baby bigger.
We got little miss Bailey. Who is so sweet, yet at the same time, a pain in my foot. Bailey is a German Shepherd, and boy, does she let you know. She is extremely vocal and will destroy anything she can get. In the end, she is my baby girl.
October Ashton and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. Three years does fly, but I feel blessed either way.
Ashton also said goodbye to the cable industry that his family has been in for generations. This was a scary transition, but all the hard work (and prayers) paid off. We had no idea what to expect, but I think it was worth it.
My husband is currently going through the 16 week training for the local Police. In February it will be official.
In November, This awesome chick made a surprise visit to see me.
Anastasia (yes like the movie) is my best friend from highschool. We met in choir and had just stuck like glue. We both lived in North Carolina for highschool, after graduation, we lived in Alaska. Now that I am back in NC, she moved to West Virginia. Anna and I are totally random around each other. We both love to read, but we’ll go back and forth on different topics. When we are together, we’re both full of so much energy, we don’t know what to do.
Also in November, Ashton and I met up with m cousin and her brother to check out the local Dicken’s Christmas, that has been a local tradition for YEARS.
We had a great time!!!!
December!!!! The last month of the year!!!
Ashton and I went with his family to a local vineyard, for a Christmas show and awesome comfort food!
Also in December, for Christmas, we loaded up our dos in the car, and traveled 3 different states to Alabama.
The travel was long, but it was totally worth it. Ashton and I saw mom and dad’s new house and the newest puppies.
And of course! Can’t forget to share my parents!!
It was nice to see them and I missed them a bunch! I prefer to see them during happier times. The last time I saw them was in Tennessee for Papaw (Dad’s father) funeral.
Mom, is who inspired me to start this website. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be able to have my own domain. Mom not only runs her own website, she’s youtuber that shares life on a farm and food. Check out her website HERE.
The last major thing I had done, was collab with an author in Italy to advertise her new novel that releases in June/July of 2018
Oh and I am also working on hopefully my own book. *fingers crossed*
As a conclusion to the last post of 2017, Happy New Year everyone, and I hope 2018 will be better!!!
Until next year, my dragons!!!
